Who is Lilliana Denniston ​?

OUR HISTORY

Lilliana Bronte' Denniston passed away in April 2015 at the age of 14 from a complication of strep.


Although Lilliana lived on this earth only a short 14 years, she has touched many lives deeply.  She was loving and kind to everyone she met. She never had a harsh word to say about others.  She was very patient and loved being around younger children.  Lilliana's passions were nature and the outdoors, animals, being kind and helping others, and dancing. 

September 2015 – Started the Lilliana Denniston Dance Scholarship.

 

November 2015– Launched Facebook page  www.facebook.com/lillianashelpinghands to spread our mission of kindness and encourage others to join in.

 

November 2015 – Started volunteer efforts at local food pantries. 

 

December 2015 - Started distributing Kindness Inspiration Cards. 


February 2016 - ​Launched our website. 


February 10, 2016 - ​Hosted first Ice Cream Social for the children at Pocono Alliance as a way of honoring Lilliana's birthday. 


February 19, 2016 - ​Sponsored a "Sweetheart" basket for Immaculate Conception School's Basket Bingo.


February 23, 2016 - ​Started creating and handing out care packages for the homeless.


March 25, 2016 - Launched our annual program to donate Easter Baskets to children of low income families.


August 18, 2016 -Sponsored our first child for Adventure Camp


October 24, 2016 - Started our annual program to collect and distribute Halloween costumes to those who need them.


December 15, 2016 - Started our annual program of creating holiday gift baskets for teenage girls who live in group homes. 


January 2017 - Started sponsoring and highlighting other local charities and organizations on our Facebook page.


May 2, 2017 - Sponsored our first high school student to go to the Prom.


September 14,2017 - Official opening and dedication of the Lilliana's Nature Discovery Area at Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center.


November 21, 2017 -It is official! All donations made to Lilliana's Helping Hands are now tax deductible! We are now not only a non-profit organization, but also a tax exempt organization!


February 8, 2018 - Expanded the community programs in which we sponsor children to include martial arts scholarships, music and me scholarships, museum and historical farm visits, and more, so that we can continue to expose more children and families to the arts and nature.


Ongoing -Free special activities and programs at the Lilliana's  Nature Discovery Area.  Our past events have included Fairy House Building, Sounds and Music in Nature, and more.  Check out our Facebook Page to get a list of upcoming events.
